Margarita / 06 The Ingrate / HUFS-ISS 2016

The development of this story can be viewed from two perspectives, Mr. Lecker with progressive ideas and from the point of view of the slave (Josh).

Josh is considered an ingrate because it has provided an education that did not used to be available for the rest of slaves and still never say thank you to their "owners" for the facilities they provided.

But on the other hand you could say that Mr. Lecker is also an ingrate, because he gives his slave the opportunity to study but he think that his slave not is a person is a property, so that, he do not have to give thanks for nothing

Mr lecker demonstrating consent of freedom for some things but not for other things, not for recognize the work that josh does

In the title story the irony of the author is see clearly, the wanting to fight for freedom from the point of view of human beings is not to be ungrateful, it is to have the same rights as other

You could compare it with the false sense of freedom we have in democratic states, we believe that we live in free countries, but governments and big brands control us through their policies, legislation and the media. If we try to solve unjust situations that go against the dominant policies, we are just ingrates for (ironically) not to recognize the benefits they give us.

On the other hand we observe the spirit of overcoming that the human have to get what he yearns to have, he is able to withstand extreme situations
